Two Worlds Meet
A baby cries, but no one is there
A child is hungry -- does anyone care
Just hours before -- we boarded a plane
We were surrounded by poverty and all of its pain
I was walking through the village and saying good bye
When a young man grabbed my arm and took me to meet his family inside
I held their 2 babies and spoke with his wife
This is not what they chose—but this was their life
A one room hut made of mud and dirt for a floor
Half a bag of sugar, some flour-- and nothing more
Tears filled his eyes—as he spoke so sincere
Please don’t forget about us-- and tell them of the needs that are here
I know what you are thinking because I used to think the same
Why is that man not working—He is to blame
Here are the facts, the way it has always been
He cannot get a job because of the color of his skin
It is much easier to look away and pretend it doesn’t exist
But imagine for a moment that you –live in the midst
20% of the world has 80% of its wealth
While 80% live on what is left, and most of them live in poor health
30,000 children die needlessly each and every day
From lack of food and water—while we waste them away
A mother must choose between food for her family and medicine for her spouse
His health worsens, but she is able to provide a little food for the children in her house
I am sorry Lord, to ask why, but I am just trying to make sense of what I see
Why some live in great excess and others in extreme poverty
Your Word says, "To whom much is given much is required",
Over 300 verses command us to help the poor in the Bible You inspired
Show us how to make a difference with what we have been given
Give us your heart Lord, and change OUR standard of living
The harvest is plentiful; many souls are ready to receive
To call on the name of Jesus, and to truly believe
Give us your eyes, your hands and your heart
Show us what you required and we will do our part
When Jesus walked this earth he was filled with compassion and met so many needs
He preached to the sinners, and confronted the religious of their greed’s
Why do we work so hard, and our debts grow more and more?
Why do we work so hard, and on earth, our treasures we store?
The stuff we accumulate matters not when life has past
For only what is done in the name of Christ will last
Please show me your ways as we walk on the path that is narrow
I know we can trust you because you even take care of the sparrow
Increase our faith and help our two worlds meet
Crossing all boundaries and one day we will all bow at Your feet
"All of these things that each day you see
I am working together in my Sovereignty
You can not understand, for My thoughts are much higher
But it is for MY GLORY and I am your Supplier."
I Praise you MY LORD, and trust completely in YOU
To fill me each day and LET YOUR GLORY SHINE THROUGH!
